Udupi: The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday dismissed the bail application filed by Rajeshwari Shetty, main accused in the murder of her husband, Bhaskar Shetty, an Udupi-based businessman.
Justice P S Dinesh Kumar rejected the bail application on the grounds that Rajeshwari is the main accused and that there is sufficient evidence against her to prove her role in the murder. The prosecution has contended that if she is released on bail, there are high chances that she could destroy evidence against her in the crime.
NRI Businessman Bhaskar Shetty, who went missing since July 2016, after recieving compliants from his mother the police took wife Rajeshwari and son Navaneeth into custody, and during interrogation, Navaneeth revealed to have murdered his father with the help of his mother and a priest named Niranjan Bhat. They later took the body to Nandalike in Karkala, where they conducted homa and burnt his body to ashes.
