Mangalore : The DK District Committee of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayana Gowda leadership) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore on September 29, Friday demanding additional government bus services on some routes in Mangalore and its vicinity.
The agitators while welcoming the introduction of KSRTC bus services on select routes in Mangalore after efforts put in by the Vedike and other organizations, alleged that the private bus operators were not happy with the KSRTC buses which have broken their monopoly. The Vedike has also demanded permits for running government buses from the Mangalore Central Railway station to Mudipu and Talapady and airport.It has also urged for KSRTC services from Mangalore to Vittal via Moodbidri and from Mangalore to Moodbidri and Ullal and additional buses from Mangalore to Suratkal and Mangalore to Adyar.
Government bus services were also urged from Mangalore to Kinya via Natekal; Mangalore to Mudipu via Manjanady and Mangalore to Newpadpu via Madaka.
A delegation of the Vedike led by its District President Mohandas Rai, Khader Talapady, Honorary President, Santosh Kumar Shetty, Vice President, Hameed Kinya, General Secretary, Ismail, Vice President and others submitted a memorandum to the DC seeking early fulfillment of the demands.
