Bangalore : Close on the heels of the resignation of Lokayukta Shivraj Patil, Karnataka lost another legal watchguard with the quitting of Upalokayukta Justice R Gururajan.
Governor H R Bharadwaj today accepted the resignation of Justice Gururajan who had quit yesterday citing personal reasons.
Raj Bhavan in a communique said the Governor accepted the resignation effective from today.
Mr Shivraj Patil had quit following media reports about irregularities in the allotment of residential sites to him and his wife by housing societies.
In his resignation letter yesterday, Justice Gururajan said he had decided to quit in view of certain sudden development in his family and also due to health problems.
Media reports indicated that Justice Gururajan had been allotted a housing site in a layout formed by the controversial Karnataka State Judicial Department Employees House Building Cooperative Society. The allotment was said to be illegal.
