Bantwal : The vacant post after death of Jallel Karopay, now filled his brother Mohammed Anwar Karopady winning the Vice presidents seat of Karopady gram panchayat by 129 votes which declared on July 5.

The election was held for this post on Sunday July 2, Anwar, who was supported by Congress, came out victorious. He secured 449 votes.

The seat had fallen vacant after the murder of Abdul Jaleel Karopady, who was vice-president of this panchayat.

Harish Kodla, who was supported by BJP, could muster only 320 votes. 21 votes were declared to be invalid. A total of 769 votes were polled in this bypoll. 400 out 517 male voters and 390 among 462 female voters had exercised their franchise.

Under supervision of deputy Tahsildar, Parameshwar Naik, counducted the counting.. Vittal police sub-inspector, Nagaraj, present on the occation.
