Bangalore: KAS Officer Mahantesh, who had been grievously attacked by assailants near the Atria Hotel in the city on May 15, has succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in the city on the morning of May 20, Sunday.
Mahantesh who was known to be an honest officer had waged a war against the corrupt and corruption had slipped into coma since the past four days. Mahantesh, who was working as the Deputy Commissioner of the Co-operative Accounts Department, had in the past too received several threatening calls and attempts had also been made on his life.
Meanwhile, Mahantesh’s wife has demanded stern punishment against the assailants responsible for the killing of her husband. She has also alleged that he police were trying to hush up the case by saying that he died in an accident.
DCP Ravikanthe Gowda has informed that four squads have been formed to trap the killers of Mahantesh and that the police had gathered vital clues regarding the killers.
