Kasaragod : The Kasaragod MP in Kerala, P. Karunakaran today (July 25) Welcomed the state HC order to Air India to pay Rs75 lakhs each to the families of the (158) dead in Air Boing crash on 22 May, 2o10.
Although unexpected and belated, the road clearance for payment of adequate compensation to be made by the insured Boing crash event from Air India, KHC has rendered a humanitarian act of relief to the worried families of the unfortunate dead passengers in Bajpe, Mangalore, the MP said in a statement.
He pointed out that the union Govt. had not taken a final decision for an year over compensation, when High Court ordered the payment in a month’s time. 48 persons from his district had died in the air crash. Several representations were made to civil Aviation minister in 2010-11. The KHC order is now accepted by the union Govt.(Vayalar Ravi as minister). The MP asked the Govt. to settle the dues now for those who received less than Rs75 lakhs, out of insured money payable.
