Kasaragod: As a part of state “administration language week” celebration, the Kasaragod district administration has decided to honour S. Srinivasa Rao alias Kasaragod chinna, the current President of Karnataka’s Konkani Sahitya Academy(in Mangalore) on November 5 at 12-30 PM(afternoon), in a programme to be held at the conference hall in the Kasaragod district collector’s office for his distinguished services to language & literature, and cultural spheres in Konkani, kannada and other matters, such as stage and films.
The programme, ought to have taken place only on November 1(Tuesday), was postponed in view of the death of T.M. Jacob, state minister of Kerala for Food and civil supplies recently.
K. Chinna lives in Kasaragod and travels to Mangalore in Karnataka as a border Kannadiga, and participates in local Konkani/Kannada/Tulu programmes as well.
He is familiar with Malayalam, state language of Kerala, and Kasaragod, which was a part of DK District in Madras Presidency till 1956, and merged with Keral thereafter.
Chinna’s latest directorial venture in Konkani ‘Uzwadu’(light) is shown at New Chitra Talkies in Alake in Mangalore these days.
