Mangalore : Actor cum Director Kasargod Chinna took charge as the president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for three years at Karanataka Sahitya Academy office located behind MCC building on September 12, Monday.

Mayor Praveen Anchan inaugurated the event and congratulated the new president on the occasion.

Speaking after receiving the charge, President Kasargod Chinna said that, Konkani is a sweet language and the responsibility of nourishing it has been passed out from many hands and reached to my hand, he said.

He also said that the style and language of Konkani changes with every 50 kilometers, but we must not forget that our mother is one.

He also assured the people to work for the welfare of the language and academy with out any controversy. The governmental facilities which are reserved for the Konkani speaking people must be utilized, he said.

Mannd Sobhann Gurkaar Eric Ozario, said that Chinna has the power to sort out any problem confronting in the future. His sincerity has gathered many people in the occasion and this will further help to work for the language too.

Kalangann will extend its three years time to give the auditorium free for the Konkani work, he added.

Former president Narayana Kharvi said that Chinna had always given the guidance and support to the academy through out the years and this helped to reach the position.

Kasargod may not be the part of Karnataka, but the Konkani speaking people residng there are our he added.
