Kasargod : In connection to abduction, gang-rape and stabbing of a 21-year-old girl at Bayar on Tuesday August 5 police has succeeded in arresting the main accused of the crime.
The accused is identified as Zakki alias Zakaria (27), resident of Bayar. However the other two accused are absconding and the search for them is on.
It is learnt that, three men, who had come by bike allegedly dragged the girl to a rubber plantations gang-raped and stabbed her.
When the girl screamed, the locals rushed to the spot by then the three men had fled in their bike. One of them identified Zakaria as he tried to run away and lodged complaint at Manjeshwar police station.
At present, the girl, is said to be recovering in Kasargod general hospital, recovering in Kasargod general hospital.
The arrested is involved in more than five cases, including attempt to murder Prasad, a Bayar resident and was booked under Goonda Act earlier. Apart from it, he was also accused in the kidnapping and assault of Haneef and assault on Hamza, resident of Paivalike and Dinesh, resident of Peruvad.
Sangh Parivar leader said that the plan to hold protest in Paivalike panchayat limits was withdrawn following the arrest of Zakaria.
