Kasargod: A herd of elephants destroyed crops at Chamekochi, a border line area falls in Delampady GP limit, on Friday mid night.
Elephants rushed into the farm owned by Bhaskar Rao and destroyed more than 100 rubber plants, 20 areca nut plants, more than 50 banana plants and the pipeline. Along with this they have also wrecked the two lakes, which were situated in the middle of the farm.
As the herd of elephants attacked the farm during night, the number of elephants couldn’t be ascertained.
The forest officers have succeeded in sending back the elephants to the forest temporarily.
People are urging for a permanent solution for the attacks of elephants, as they are facing this problem repeatedly every year. Though solar fences are installed at the borders of the forest, elephants are not being stopped by it.
