Mangalore :  Iranian saffron of Badiee brand weighing 10 kg and worth Rs 10 lakhs was seized from a person hailing from Pallikere in Kasargod  by the customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on September 4, Wednesday.

The saffron was found hidden in two cardboard boxes between clothes. The man named Shukur Pallipuzhu had arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai at 10.30 am. It is learnt he had  travelled on the route four times earlier. But it is not yet known if he had smuggled saffron on earlier occasions too.
