Manjeshwara: Kasargod ZP standing committee President Harshad Vorkady and a team led by him requested Urban Development and Haj Minister Roshan Baig to extend the Thiruvanathapuram – Kannur bullet train to Mangaluru, on Thursday.
During the visit of the Minister to Kasargod the team submitted the request letter.
“Presently Kasargod has been excluded for the train project. If Mangaluru is added to the project then Kasargod people also make use of the train. Moreover, Mangaluru is a rapidly developing city and many people from Kerala live in Mangaluru. If the railway track is extended till Mangaluru it will be helpful for everyone,” said the team.
Team urged the Minister to extend the railway track till Mangaluru and to extra concern towards this project.
NRI Yahya Thalangere, Muslim League Leader Abdul Rehman, Saleem Ullal and others were present.
Hostel facility for boarder area people
The team submitted one more request letter to the Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai to restart the hostel facility for boarder area people.
“To the people who live in the boarder of Karnataka and Kerala should be provided hostel facility. The hostels which were functioning are being closed one by one. Such hostels should be restarted soon,” said Harshad Vorkady.
