Kasargod : The Kasargod police nabbed four persons of Mumbai origin on August 1, Friday for robbing cash and mobiles from the people by waylaying a car.
The arrested are A Basheer Sarvi (32) of Mumbai, Mushtaq Abubakker Naqvi (31), Muneer Rafiq Khan (20) and Gulam Mohammed Ishaq Sheikh (33) of Thane near Mumbai.
The police arrested the four from Karandakkad in Kasargod and seized two swords, a dagger, a revolver, mobile phones and a car used for crime.
It is learnt that, Iqbal, Mustafa, Zakir and another person, all resident of Shiriya in Kumble, were on their way to home after visiting a hospital in Mangalore. When they reached Thokkottu, one of the accused waylaid them, pretending to ask for a lift and later pointed a gun at Zakir and demanded cash and valuables. The accused then escaped in the Renault Duster car with the amount of Rs 15,000 and two mobile phones looted from, the victims.
As the accused escaped, Iqbal and Mustafa informed their friends about the incident and they in turn informed the Kumble police and arrest was made after keeping a watch on national highway.
According to police, previously gang was involved in several other crimes.
Ullal police registered a case.
Ullal police team led by sub-inspector Dinesh will conduct further investigations.
