Kasargod : The Kasargod Police on April 22, Tuesday, has successfully arrested five inter-state thieves in connection with thefts committed in temples and jewellery shops.
The arrested are identified as Sharambath Shibu (42), resident of Kutyadi Mailothpar Nerolya, Haneefa (36) from Kasargod Tekil, Ismail (41) from Hosadurg Manikoth Madiyan, Junaid (18) from Manjeshwar Morathaneya and a minor from Pandeshwar.
Police team led by CIA Satish Adoor under the supervision of DYSP T.P.Ranjith, DYSP participated in the arrest operation.
It is learnt that the arrested have robbed gold ornaments worth Rs 1.45 lakh from Ramaniya jewellery, Calicut, Rs 1.80 lakh gold ornaments from Vadagere Memanda Temple, three mobile phones and Rs 8,000 cash from a house located near Memanda Government Hospital, Rs 1 lakh from a backery near Vadagere Government Hospital, articles worth Rs 1 lakh from Vadegere Kuthuru Daivasthana, Rs 1.50 lakh from footwear shop at Vadagere, Rs 50 lakh worth items from Kannur Jewellery shop.
Apart from it, they have also robbed 20 sovereign gold from house belonging to Rajashree of Kannur Nadar, theft in house at Kannur Matnoor and theft of nine watches from house belonging to Sarfuddin near Mangalore Railway Station, Rs 5,000 from a shop at Cherkala, 6.50 sovereign gold from house belonging to Sainaba in Povall Mastikundu, 2 mobile phones from house belonging to Aayishath in Poval and theft in two houses located near Bevinje school.
