Mangalore : Naveen Soorinje, the reporter of Kasturi TV Channel was released from prison on March 23, Saturday evening, after nearly four months in prison.
Representatives of various organizations and well wishers were present to welcome Soorinje who has been behind bars since November 7. He was released almost five days after the High Court granted him bail on condition of a surety bond of Rs 5 lakhs. Satish Kumar Bantwal, advocate for Soorinje said Naveen’s brother-in-law provided the surety bond.
Muneer Katipalla of DYFI leaders of Komu Sauharda Vedike, PUCL were present. Even Vijaykumar, one of the victims of the Morning Mist Homestay attack and Vittal Malekudiya, the student of Mangalore University who was arrested on Naxal links and later released, were present to welcome Soorinje.
DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla said the release of Naveen has pleased everyone and that the organization would continue its fight against moral policing.
