Mangaluru: A voluntary bandh is being observed by merchants, labourers at the Central Market and people working at the fisheries dock at old port on April 23. The bandh is in protest to the Kathua rape and murder case.
The voluntary bandh is being backed by no organization. It is workers voluntary call in protest towards the internationally humiliating atrocity.
Unlike most days, the goods failed to arrive on Sunday itself. The merchants were trying to sell off their goods by Sunday itself.
The Dry Fish Sellers and Commission Agents Association had given a bundh call at the old port yard following which all fishing activities have come to a grinding halt.
People of Mangaluru were wondering why their regular fish monger never turned up. This sudden call for band has caused much confusion and trouble with the sudden lack of supply and drastic increase in prices for fish.
