Udupi : The town of Kaup observed a complete bundh on March 16, Saturday in protest against  those responsible for attacking two Hindu youth in a Manipal-Mangalore Express bus recently.

The agitators took out a procession to the Kaup police station and demanded that the accused be arrested at the earliest. Shops downed their shutters and vehicles were off the roads.

A memorandum was submitted to Kaup DySP Jayanth Shetty. Several leaders including Suprata Shetty, Vishwa Hindu Parishat district President, Geetanjali Suvarna, Arun Shetty Padur, BJP leaders like Vijay Karkera, Naveen Shetty, Ravindra Shetty and others took part in the protest.

The police have so far arrested four persons in connection with the incident wherein two students of a college in Katipalla named Srinath and Rajesh were attacked for talking to a Muslim girl.
