Udupi: 6th Kavita Fest 2012 will be held at Moodbelle in Mudartha House on Sunday, Jan 8. This event has been held in different parts of Mangalore and Udupi in the past, for 5 years.
Regina and Bernard D’souza are hosts. The Kavita Trust organises the poetry fest every year to promote Konkani writing.
The President of the Trust, Melvyn Rodrigues, recently won the Central Sahitya Akademi those from Middle East will take part in the 2012 fest.
The day-long fest on Sunday starts at 10 AM ending at 8 PM. While Ramesh Velsukar, a prominent Konkani poet of Goa, inaugurates the programme, Dr. Kiran Budkuley of University of Goa will be a chief guest at the evening programme.
Books of poetry collections from Aruna Rao and Sannu Monis will be released on the occasion. Several awards will be given away to competition winners.
A multi-lingual poetry recital session, Assam folk dances and a symposium are highlights of this year’s Fest, a release said. Eric Soans, a young poet, will be the Master of Ceremony.
Food, accommodation, and transport are arranged for all participants, especially those coming from long distances.
