Mangaluru : Kavoor and surrounding areas were cleaned during the 38th shramdaan of Ramakrishna Mission on Sunday. It was part of its last phase of five-year Swachhta Abhiyan.
A group of volunteers removed heaps of garbage on the road leading towards Kavoor Junction. The surrounding area was levelled. A blackspot on the road leading towards Kuloor from Gandhinagar was cleared. Weeds and overgrown grass were cut. Decorative flower plants were placed at both spots to dissuade people from littering further.
Gandhinagar Bus Stand was cleaned and repainted. Students from the Government First Grade College, Kavoor cleaned both roadsides of BGS School. Students of A.J. Institute of Technology visited several households and created awareness on the need to keep the area clean.
Students of SVS College cleaned the compound walls of Government Wenlock Hospital where art work had been done last year on the theme Swachh Bharat. Yekkur bus shelter was cleaned and seats were painted.
