Kasargod :  Karavali Sanskritika Pratishtana and Kayyara -99 Felicitation Committee honoured veteran writer, Kannada activist and freedom fighter Kayyara Kinhanna Rai at his residence Kavitha Kuteera on June 8, Saturday, at Peradala inBadiadka on his 99th birthday celebrations.

The poet was honoured by Karnataka Forest Minister Ramanatha Rai. Karnataka Health Minister UT Khader was present as a chief guest. The function was inaugurated by Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj.

All the speakers were all praise for the veteran personality and urged the present generation to derive inspiration from him.

Kayyara who also spoke, said he would work for the merger of Kasargod with Karnataka until his death and hoped his dream would be realized when he is alive.

Shivaram Kasargod, President of the Pratishtana, Subbayya Rai, Kerala Tulu Academy President and others were present on the occasion.

The birth centenary celebrations of Kayyara Kinhanna Rai was also inaugurated on the occasion. A variety of cultural programmes were organised.
