Mangalore : In a meeting held at Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) G G Mohandas Prabhu, president of KCCI said that there need for an air cargo complex in Mangalore; since a study conducted showed to have good potential oversees for the goods taken from Mangalore, especially in the Gulf countries.
He urged the setting up of the complex within a month.
The air traffic movement has seen tremendous growth in these years and further the need for the cargo complex will increase when it will see the growth in export sector also, he said. The complex will be set up after completing the necessary formalities notifies by the authorities, he added.
M R Vasudeva, director of Mangalore Airport said that the air cargo after the establishment will not lead to the problem in handling, since it will be separate from airport functioning, but the customs formalities must go to together with the co-ordination of the regulating authority and other in charge.
The meeting discussed various issues related to barriers associated the construction of cargo complex.
Latha R Kini, Vice-president, B Chandrakanth Rao and Mohammed Ameen, honorary secretaries and others were present at the meeting.
