Mangaluru : Mangaluru as a thriving commercial hub and port city, plays a vital role in Karnataka’s economic progress. However, the absence of a High Court Bench in this region places a considerable burden on residents, businesses, and legal professionals, forcing them to travel long distances to Bengaluru or Dharwad for legal matters.
The four coastal and Malnad districts (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru) contribute a large number of cases annually to the Karnataka High Court estimated to be around 10,000 case annually across various categories.
The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), alongside the local Bar Council, is actively advocating for the establishment of a High Court Bench in Mangaluru. This proposal aligns with judicial modernization efforts and will facilitate faster resolutions, especially in areas such as maritime disputes and tourism-related cases.
We request your intervention in Parliament to raise this issue and liaise with relevant authorities for a timely resolution. The KCCI offers its full cooperation to assist in the process and engage in discussions wherever needed.
