Mangalore: The fire crackers extensively used during 3 days and nights of Diwali (Oct. 24 to 28) all over the state and the nation, can have a damaging effect on the health of citizens in a colony or concourse.
Children should be taken care of during prolonged cracker bursts as the sounds could frighten them into tears. Others in haling smoke from burnt fireworks could have definite breathing difficulties and heart diseases, whether aged or young. The smoke could start coughing, heat in the nose and throat for children and a fear of sound effects.
The smoke creates red eyes and disease in the ears. Those having blood pressure may suffer by heightened sounds of crackers, big or small.
Headache and vertigo could be possibility due to exposure to cracker noises. Cough, Sneeze and a violent heart-thumping would arise by cracker bursts and spread of smoke.
Ears go deaf with noises. Asthmatic patients should keep away from fireworks.
Pregnant women and kids in cradle should keep off crackers shots. They have to be doubly careful about homely pranks and maintain safety.
