Mangaluru : The fifth year of tragic incident which claiming 158 lives on May 22, 2010 by Air India Express flight form Dubai crashed at Kejaru is memorised again at Kenjaru here.
The Daskhina Kannada district administration, elected representatives and officials of Mangalore International Airport paid homage to the victims of air crash.
District incharge Minister Ramanath Rai, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim, Zilla Panchayat CEO Srividya, Airport Director J T Radhakrishnan and other officials placed garland at the incident site.
Speaking on the occasion Ramanath Rai said that though the city witnessed a tragic incident five years ago it is very difficult to forget the pain.
“The administration is always with the kin of victims of the tragedy. I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy,” he added.
Briefing press on the construction of a memorial park in memory of victims, DC A B Ibrahim said that the with the help of Mangalore International Airport and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT), the district administration would complete the work of the memorial at the earliest near Kulur bridge .
