Kasargod : Kerala Home Minister Radhakrishnan has said that the state government would consider the recommendations of DGP Jacob Punkus to increase the police force in Kasargod district by 50 per cent considering the frequent breakdown of law and order machinery in the district due to outbreak of communal violence.
He was presiding over a meeting of district level police officials convened at the CPCRI hall here on May 14, Monday to discuss the law and order scenario in the district. Radhakrishnan assured that the government would make all out efforts to strengthen the police force in the district. The department will be equipped with bikes and other vehicles to patrol sensitive areas, he said. The minister further said CCTV cameras would be installed at strategic locations in the district.
He also informed that a total of 191 fake passport cases were being investigated and that the cases would be handed over to Central Intelligence Agency as there was a need to bust this fake passport racket which was a threat to the nation’s security.
