Kasaragod: Kerala State Health Minister K K Shailaja have made a confusing comment on construction of Medical College Hospitals in every district’s.
Aikyaranga government had decided to build Medical College Hospitals in each district’s, but now the government has changed. The new government Yedaranga’s Health Minister K K Shailaja said that there are discussions going on the decision of building Medical College Hospitals in every district’s.
“Rather we are thinking of developing the present District health centres,” she said.
After emerging as ruling party at Kerala, Yedaranga is making some important changes to the decisions taken by Aikyaranga government in the name of improvising administration. The present statement has created huge confusion among the people.
She further said that there is a shortage of staff in existing hospitals, in between of it if new hospitals are constructed then it may lead to massive lack of staff’s in the department.
“Renovation of Kozhikkod medical hospital and college is yet to be done. We are planning to install organ transplantation unit in it. The government will work tooth and nail for this,” she added.
The statement has created doubt on construction of Ukkinadka medical college and hospital also. Three years former CM Ooman Chandy had laid foundation stone for it that is on 2013 November 13, but the work didn’t started for next two and half years. Some of the leaders of ruling party itself held stir against the delay of commencement of work.
When the Congress was the head of Aikyaranga party, a committee led by Aikyaranga leaders staged protest to keep the project alive. BJP also held unique protests against the delay of commencement of work.
Now the construction work has started, but Shailaja’s statement has created doubt on the completion of it. If the hospital is constructed at Ukkinadka, then it will be helpful for the victims of Endosulfan who preset nearly in eleven villages. If the project is withdrawn then it may defame the administration of Yedaranga in Kasargod region.
As the construction of the hospital has become doubtful, the protest committee has decided to continue their protest against it.
Commenting on the developments protesting committee Convener Mahin Kelote, said that as the commencement of work delayed the committee staged protests and made government to start the project.
