Kasargod : K Natarajan, the Kerala Information Commissioner has been suspended by the governor for reportedly trying to intervene in the Kasargod land scam case involving former CM Achyutanandan. The Governor has also ordered a detained inquiry into the case.
Reacting on the developments, Kerala Chief Information Commissioner Dr Sibi Mathews said the action eroded people’s faith in the institution.
If the inquiry against the suspended information commissioner, proves the charges against him, then the governor can remove him from office.
A Home Ministry report had earlier said Natarajan was trying to influence the investigation officer with an intention of absolving Achyutanandan of the charges.
The suspended officer Natarajan was said to be a close aide of the former CM during whose tenure he was appointed to the post.
Achyutanandan is facing the charges of allotting land to one of his relative in Kasargod violating the rules.
