Mangaluru : During the current Corona crisis Mangalore Kerala Samajam has come forward to help the members and others. The Samajam has offered immediate help for travel n food for the needy 75 Samajam members who lost their livelihood during the lockdown were given Rs.2000/-each to their bank accounts under the leadership of our President T K Rajan.
Under the guidance of our Secretary Maxin Sebastian a Norka Roots help desk is functioning effectively arranging government passes to those who are trapped during the lockdown.
Further the Executive Committee Members and youth wing of Kerala Samajam has helped students and others to travel to Talapady in our school bus and other vehicles. Patients and other needy people were given the help of an ambulance also.We also offered food and other essential commodities to travellers who passed through Mangalore from Rajasthan, Delhi and Mumbai to Kerala.
The executive committee which met under the leadership of Mr T K Rajan has taken a unique decision not to collect one month’s rent from the shop keepers of Kerala Samajam complex. (49 Shops an approximate monthly rent of Rs.4.5 lakhs.)They were not able to do any business during the lockdown. This can be a good example for others to follow.
T K Rajan has assured the members and other Malayalees of any help required from the Samajam. He also reminded to protect ourselves and take all precautions suggested by the authorities.
