Kasargod : The murder of a RSS activist leads to protest and bundh in Kerala and turned violent at various places on September 2, Tuesday.
In order to avoid inconvenience, all the schools and colleges in Kerala were declared a holiday. Their exams too were postponed. Buses and other vehicles were damaged. Shops were bombed in Kannur Peralassery, injuring one person. RSS office was stoned at Ernakulam. Buses were stoned at Pathanamthitta. KSEB staff was tied and locked inside the office in Kochi.
It is recalled that, RSS district pramukh Elan Thottathil Manoj, 45, a native of Kizhakke Kathiroor, was killed to death by unidentified assailants at Diamond Mukku on Sep 1, Monday at 11 am. Another RSS worker, Pramod, native of Kathiroor, who was with Manoj, was seriously injured.
It is said that, both Pramod and Manoj were accused in the murder attempt of CPM district secretary, P Jayaraj.
Home minister Ramesh Chennithala under the guidance of Crime DYSP T P Premarajan formed a special team to investigate the case.
