Mumbai: The 634 km long distance between Tiruvananthapuram and Udupi can be covered by train within three to four hours as against the present 15 hours once the ambitious high speed corridor project of Kerala government is complete.
According to Kerala Chief Minister Ooman Chandy, the Rs 1.20 lakh crore project which will have 80% private funding through loans will commence next year.
Chandy was speaking in Mumbai where he had been for a road-show in connection with the ensuing global investors’ meet ‘Emerging Kerala 2012′ to be held in September.
Though it was initially planned to have the project till Cochin-Kasargod from the Kerala capital Tiruvananthapuram, it was later decided to extend it to Mangalore and Udupi. The works on this route is expected to be complete by 2010.
