Sullia :  State Health and Family Welfare Minister UT Khader paid a surprise visit to the  Government hospital at Sullia on October 7, Monday. He also participated in a meeting of medical officials.

He urged the hospital staff to be courteous.He also stressed the need for hospitals to provide medical facilities to the por.

Dr Shivakumar, District Health Officer, Dr MR Subrahmanya, Taluk Medical Oficer, M Venkatppa Gowda, Block Congress President and others were present.

During the meeting, 23 year old Chandini, daughter of Dhananjaya of Gandhinaga appealed for financial aid  of at least Rs 6000 per month for treatment of cancer. She also complained that  she was prevented from meeting the minister earlier by the Block Congress President saying her brother was working for BJP and that why she wanted to ask funds from a Congress minister.

Confusion prevailed at the meeting over the issue and  the minister pacified the agitated men.
