Mangaluru: Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs U T Khader while reasserting the state government’s commitment to deal with forces that create panic among residents of Ullal, said a squad comprising students, general public and police will be set up to control sale of intoxicants including drugs such as ganja.
Licenses of chemists and druggists who sell intoxicating drugs over the counter (OTC) without prescription from doctors will be cancelled, he warned. Strongly condemning the murder of Zubair on Thursday night that took place in Ullal, part of the Mangaluru assembly constituency that he represents, Khader said the murder of Zubair, close to him has come as a personal shock.
People should work towards apprehending Zubair’s killers at the earliest, the minister said while requesting people not to pay heed to rumours floating regarding the incident and cooperate with the authorities in bring the killers to justice.
