Mangalore: On August 16, an industrial representative of IVCRL who came to Mangalore all the way from Bangalore to offer a tender quotation for a MSEZ project, was kidnapped and taken round and round the city to prevent him from offering a separate tender, by members of a cartel led and planned by local BJP leaders, even a corporator. The instance may look small, but deep down it can shatter a heart. A mafia and some BJP group is out to keep industrial activity under their control in DK and goes about methodically to cut down outside competition, under a political gang looking these affairs, stated Vijaya Kumar Shetty in a press release today.
A person who was sent by a Bangalore Co., has been prevented from offering the tender worth Rs.125 crores with Rs.15 crores of kickbacks in it. An immoral gang was threatening a cartel of tender offerers, by giving a kickback of Rs.1 crore each to 5 companies and pocket the balance Rs.25 crores available in the large and tempting MSEZ contract of Rs.125 crores.
‘IVCRL’ officer R. Rajeshwarachari fell into a trap of these local minor politicians from BJP in MCC, by not accepting their advice of joining the cartel. He was taken round and round the city in custody as a captive of the gang, until the tender time (for offering) was ever. The drama started on 16th August at 10.30 am to end (at 5.30 am next day). The drama ends in Bangalore where RR is set free.
There are several witnesses in every scene of this bizarre drama. But the Barke police ignored these vital matters, only for others to realize that there are powerful influences behind this criminal act. People have a right to know these facts, said Vijay Kumar Shetty in a press meet at DKCC office Today.
D. Ashok, Padmanabha Naringana, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidar Hegde, Sudhir T.K, M. Ashraf are several local leaders of Congress were present on the occasion. The District Police have taken no action in the matter, it was alleged.
