Bangalore : It were kids in colourful attire who were reigning supreme at the Bayyappanahalli Metro Station on June 3, Sunday, a station which would be otherwise bustling with activity as people rush to board the trains., The occasion was a painting contest for kids organized by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to mark the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between India and Japan. Around 35 Indian and 35 Japanese children in the age group of 6-12 participated in the painting competition. The theme of the competition was ‘My Metro Experience’.
The contest provided a good platform to the Japanese children to interact with local kids. Prior to the contest the kids enjoyed a train travel from Mahatma Gandhi Road station to Bayyappanahalli station in the metro. Later they had to draw a picture on their metro travel experience.
It was worthwhile to note that most of the paintings showed trees and plants around indicating the children’s desire to see more greenery in the concrete jungle.
A large number of parents who had brought their children along, were also present at the station.
The results of the contest are likely to be announced in a week’s time.
