Mangaluru: Kasturba Medical College Hospital at Attavar in the city on the occasion of completing its 25 successful years of providing clinical services, has partnered an advanced paediatric surgical program, ‘Bal Shalya Kriya Mission Week’ in collaboration with Peedh Parai Foundation, Houston and Bantwal Ananth Mallya charitable trust whereby children upto 16 years of age with untreated complicated surgical conditions who require very high surgical expertise are screened by KMC Pediatric Surgeons through outreach camps from Karnataka and Northern Kerala Region.

In a press meet held at press club in the city on Friday in the city, Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent speaking on the occasion stated that “through this camp all the identified children will be operated and treated free of cost during the Bal Shalyakriya Mission week from January 24 to 28 at KMC hospital Attavar by a team of expert Pediatric surgeons from Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, and KMC Hospital Attavar.”

As this is the first of its kind camp in the state of Karnataka, District in Charge Minister B Ramanath Rai has consented to preside over the Inaugural function and Dr KG Jagadeesha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dakshina Kannada District has will be the chief guest for the Inaugural function of BSM week on January 24 at Attavar KMC.

Dr. B. Shantaram Baliga Professor of Pediatrics KMC Mangaluru said “we see many parents who cannot afford the advanced treatment for their children due to their financial constraints and suffer the pain their kids go through as well. However with this noble mission all such family should come forward and avail the services. Patients suffering with Anorectal malformation, Hirschsprungs disease, Vesicoureteric reflux, Puj obstruction, Thoracic congenital anomalies and all types of unattended, correction pediatric surgery cases can be reffered for the surgery by the experts from USA.”

In the inaugral session, the dignitaries will also inaugurate Renovated State of the Art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KMC Hospital Attavar said Dr. Kamalakshi Bhat, Head of Department, Pediatrics, Attavar KMC. Dr Sadashiva Rao Associate Professor of Peditric Surgery, Dr Nutan Kamath Unit Chief and Professor of Pediatrics were also present in the meet.
