Mangalore : KMC Hospital Mangalore, part of Manipal Health Enterprises, as a corporate initiative will observe World Heart Day celebrations on September 28th. As per the tradition, this year KMC Hospital, will be conducting the Heart Day Run for the 10th consecutive year along with various other activities. On 28th Sept, an inaugural function and flagging off of the WHO Run 2014 will be held at 7.00 am at TMA Pai Convention Centre and the valedictory function will beheld at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle at 9 am.
Dr. Narasimha Pai, Interventional Cardiologists of KMC Hospital, Mangalore (Master of the ceremony) welcomed the delegates and members of print and electronic media. Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital MAngalore briefed about the activities for World Heart Day celebrations. Through these initiatives KMC plans to increase awareness, educate and inform people about several cardiac issues, so as to help them lead a risk free and healthier life.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Anand Venugopal, Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital said,”This year we will be attempting the Largest Human Heart Beat Simulation tp enter the Asia Book of Records. After the attempt the rally will be flagged off from TMA Pai Convention Centre and will go via MG Road – PVS Circle – Bunts Hostel Circle and reach KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle. Through this run, participants will receive many prices namely for the Best Corporate Participation, Best Institution participation, Best Placard, Best Slogan and Youngest & Eldest Partcipant who run/walk through this stretch”.
Mr Saghir Siddiqui, UnitHead, KMC Hospital said, ” Ms. Sharmila Mandre, a well-known South Indian Actress will be the special guest for the event. Mr. Clifford Joshua International Level Athlete Champion will be the torch bearer for the World Heart Day Run 2014. Many other dignitaries from the Mnaipal group and the city are expected to be partcipating in this event.”
Dr R.L Kamath – HOD, Dept of Cardiology spoke about the achievements of Cardiology dept at KMC Hospital in the last decade.
Dr. Padmanabha Kamath, Senior Interventional Cardiologist at KMC Hospital, Mangalore briefed about the special Heart check package and the importance of each test in the package which was launched on the occasion of world heart day at a discounted price of Rs.1800/- (actual price Rs.2800) and senior citizens have been offered a special rate of Rs.1500/- . The package is valid till 31st Oct 2014. For patients requiring further treatments Angiogram, Angioplasty and CABG procedures will be performed at a discounted price.
Dr Sujeeth Suvarna Cardiac Surgeon stated about the overview of Cardio Thoracic Dept at KMC Hospital. He also mentioned taht on 20th Sept 2014, the yearly WHO Drawing competition was conducted at KMC Hospital, Attavar which had a partcipation of 363 students from across the city including 35 children who were admitted in the hospital. Winers of the Drawing Competition will be awarded at the valedictory program.
Dr Maneesh Rai, Cardiac Electro Physiologist spoke about the newly formed facility and its implications in the advanced treatment available at the dept for the patients.
