Mangalore : KMC Hospital Mangalore will organize annual World Heart Day Run in order to observe World Heart Day 2011 on September 25th Sunday, said Dr Sunil Deshpande, Senior VP Operations and Medical Superintendent.
Speaking at the press meet held at KMC Hospital located near Ambedkar Circle on September 21, Wednesday, he said that the run will be flagged off at 7.30 am from KMC, Bejai and will go via lalbagh – PVS Circle- Bunts Hostel Circle and reach KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle at 8.45 am.
Through this run, participants will receive many prizes namely for the Best Corporate Participation, Best Institution Participation, Best Placard, Best Slogan shouting and Youngest and Eldest Participant who run/ walk through this stretch. Winners of the drawing competition that was conducted on 10th September 2011 at KMC Hospital, Attavar will be awarded at the Valedictory programme and around 400 students participated in the competition.
Maj.Gen (Retd) Dr G Rajagopal AVSM, Dean of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore said that noted Indian Cricketer Javagal Srinath will participate as the celebrity guest for the WHD Run. Reeth Abraham, the well known international athlete will be the torch bearer for the World Heart Day 2011.
He also said that District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat, Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Manipal University, registrar Dr GK Prabhu will be the guest of honour.
As a part of event, the organization will also conduct a special awareness programme at City Centre Mall on the September 24, Saturday from 5.30 onwards. This awareness programme will include series of educational and entertainment activities to the Mall customers to spread awareness on exercise and prevention of heart disease. Many spot games and prizes will be given to the public.
