Mangalore : The DK District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited observed World Milk Day in KMF, Kulshekar on June 4, Tuesday.
Participating as the Chief Guest, Dr O R Srirangappa, District Health Officer said that milk prevents deficiency of calcium human being.
He also said that most of the time people get the disease from the domestic animals; hence the animals must be vaccinated to avoid it. The cow must also be vaccinated to avoid bacteria which enter into human body after consuming milk.
The people who supply milk to the union must maintain cleanliness. They must not use the water which has kept open and allowed to breed mosquitoes, he said.
Delivering the presidential address, Raviraj Hegde said that India from 16th positions has reached to first position for highest producer of milk.
He also said that the Milk Producers’ Union is working in the same field from past 27 years. Around 47,000 dairy farmers were providing milk to the dairy. The union collects the milk from 648 union and distributes 3,30,000 liters to more than 2 lakh customers.
The union vaccinates all the cows of the farmers which provide milk and are being treated from 16 veterinary doctors. The union also pasteurizes the milk before supplying it to the consumers for use.
The union also honoured the Nandini Milk dealers and distributors for their achievement.
K. Seetharam Rai, director of the union, managing director Dr B V Satyanarayan, Retired MD of Mangalore Airport M R Vasudev, Corporator Bhaskar K and others were present.
