Mangaluru : ‘Students must have fairly good knowledge of current affairs and must be in regular touch with the mass media. This will surely enhance the employability of a candidate. Students from different fields are entering journalism and mass communication not because it is glamorous but because the field is biggest sector providing job opportunities now ‘opined Florine Roche, President of Media Alumni Association of Mangalgangothri (MAAM). She was addressing the participants of inter departmental seminar on “Market Communication and Job Opportunities”, jointly organised by Department of Journalism, Data Processing, Computer Science and Secretarial Practice and M.Com of Besant Women’s College on at the PG auditorium of the college on August 7.
Dr. Sudha K, the College Principal, said, information must transcend into knowledge and thereon, to wisdom. Education helps in developing a person to his or her full capacity, and prepares one to make contributions to the society. Job opportunities are umpteen but acquiring the skills and personal qualities to suit the requirements of the job is left to a person’s interest.

Studies, Venusharma, Former President, MAAM and director of Ad Idea Advertising Agency, Vivek Nambiar, Vice President, Innova Group of Institutions, Bengaluru were present on the stage. There were sessions on advertising, public relations and CSR activities, data processing and multimedia and on preparation of CV and facing interviews. Venusharma, Vivek Nambiar, Prof. Ranjini and Sri Mahesh Nayak, were the resource persons respectively. Around 200 students of UG and PG courses participated in the seminar.
