Udupi : The Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike organised a protest to condemn the recent attack on a prayer hall at Moodubelle by Bhajrangdal activists.
The protest held in front of the Clock Tower on March 19, Tuesday was attended by several leaders of the Vedike.
Addressing the protestors, G Rajashekhar, District President of the Vedike, described the attack on the prayer hall a blot on the civilized society and infringement on the rights bestowed to everyone by the Constitution.
HE also strongly deplored the granting of bail to the accused in the case and this has made progressive minded people lose hope in the system.
The protestors also condemned the recent incident wherein a couple of youth were assaulted in a bus for speaking to a girl of another community.
Jayan Malpe, Dalita Sangharsha Samithi leader, Pastor Sunil D’Souza, President of Vishwasada Mane, Shankerpura, Pastor Roshan Lobo of Word of Victory, Kattingeri, Prashanth Jathanna and others were present.
The agitators also took out a protest march from the service bus stand to the SP office and later submitted a memorandum to the SP Dr Boralingaiah.
