Mangaluru : Two thieves have been arrested in connection with the thefts in Konaje Gopalakrishna Bajana Mandir and desecration of a saffron flag at same place.
Those arrested identified as Nizamuddin (21) and Mohammad Suhail (19) of Talapady.
The Police have seized a scooter, Hundis of temples as well as knife, spanner used in committing the theft, from the accused.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar who informed this to media persons on February 1, Monday said police are on the lookout for four other accused in this case.
The Commissioner said the arrested duo have confessed their crime that they had broken the Hundi of Arasu Mundittaya Daivasthana at Malar last year and also another offertory box at Madur on January 15 apart from the theft at the Derlakatte Ayyappa Temple.
The Commissioner said the accused desecrated the saffron flag at the Gopalkrishna Temple at Perande in Konaje after they couldn’t get anything much in the Hundi.
He stated that the accused faced 9 cases in Mangaluru Rural, Kankanady, Bantwal, Ullal and Punjalakatte stations and that five of the cases are relating to thefts in temples.
