Mangalore : Around 60 students, who completed their SSLC with Konkani as the third language, were honoured by Karnataka State Konkani Sahitya Academy on June 23,Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, academy president Kasargod Chinna said that the community will always remember the first batch of SSLC studentswho completed Konkani in their SSLC.
Konkani Prachar Sanchalan took a crucial role in introducingKonkani as the third language in SSLC.
The Konkani as the third language was implemented for Std. X last academic year by State Government. The passed 60 students are from Urwa Pompei High School, Permannur St. Sebastian High School, Thokkottu Nithyadar English Medium School, Kulur High School, and Mulki Medallin High School.
Ancy D’Souza of Nithyadar High School scored first placewith 98 percent marks, Shanthi Samantha D’Souza of Udupi Udyavar Francis Xavier High School, scored 95standing second.
MLA N. Yogish Bhat; Fr. Francis Rodrigues, editor of Rakknno Weekly and Rajendra Shet, president of the Daivajna Brahman Sangha were thedignitaries on the dais.
