Mangalore: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organized ‘Konkani Abhiman’  at its office on February 22, Friday. The main objective of the programme was to encourage speaking of Konkani language by non-Konkani speaking people.

The audience was delighted when non –Konkani speaking dignitaries like Prof. BM Hegde, former chancellor of Manipal University and Vijaykumar Kodialbail, noted theatrical personality, spoke in Konkani and exhibited their love for the language.

Sri Keshavananda Bharathi Swamiji of Shree Yedaneer Mutt, also blessed the occasion and sang some Konkani songs.

Kasargod Chinna, President of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy  presided over the function and added the programme aimed at popularizing Konkani language.

Devadas Pai, Registrar, Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann  and others were present.
