Mangalore : Roy Castelino, president, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy said that the Government must permit to include Konkani language in Pre-University level, which has been fighting for the cause from the two years.
He also said that the Academy has already prepared Konkani syllabus and urged the government to include Konkani language in D.Ed/ B.Ed syllabus too.
Roy said that Konkani is being taught in St.Aloysius College from 20 years and steps have been taken to teach Konkani language in Rosario, Padua and Kirem-Kinnigoli College at second PU level. The academy is also planning to commence diploma course in Konkani.
Apart from it, the academy has also prepared an action plan to implement activities that will contribute towards the growth of Konkani education, literature and culture.
The Government has made provision to teach Konkani subject as third language from 2007 and students from seven schools have taken up Konkani as their subject from three years.
Currently, 56 higher primary and 16 high schools are teaching Konkani in Kannada script and the students of SSLC are also writing their exams in Konkani language.
