Mangalore : Koragas, the most marginalized community of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts stage protest against injustice by the government in front of DC Office on October 5, Tuesday.
Addressing the protestors, Krishnappa Konchady, state committee member of Budakattu Janara Hakkugala Rastriya Vedike said that the Adivasi community is facing problems like high mortality rate due to insufficient food and decrease in the population.
B Madhava, state president of CPI(M) said that the Forest department according to the act 006 must give the surviving land to the people of that place and provide the document of the property.
According to the Mohammed Pheer report the main localities of Koraga communities must be distributed with two and half acre of agricultural land. He also urged the implementation of ITDP scheme and simplify the conditions.
The government must also provide maximum job opportunities for the Budakattu people. The gvernmnet must provide education to the Koraga children. They must be given the seats for the professional colleges and hostel facilities as well, he said.
CPI(M) district secretary Vasanth Achary, Sukumar, Sunil Kumar Bajal and Muneer Katipalla of DYFI were present at the protest.
