Mangalore: K Koragappa Naik and Rithesh Shetty were elected unopposed as the President and Vice President respectively of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat on October 3, Wednesday. M V Jayanthi, Mysore Regional Commissioner and Returning Officer, conducted the proceedings. No other candidates from the opposition party had filed their nomination leading to their election unopposed.
If Satish Kampa proposed the name of Naik, Keshav Gowda proposed the name of Ritesh Shetty for the post of Vice President.
Speaking after being elected the new DK ZP Chief, Koragappa Naik promised to discharge his duties and responsibilities to the best of his abilities and also assured that he would strive hard to carry on the good work done by his predecessor who has brought laurels for the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat.
The newly elected ZP Chief and Vice President were congratulated by the outgoing ZP President Shailaja Bhat and Vice President Dhanalakshmi Janardhan.
DK ZP CEO Dr KN Vijayaprakash, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, District BJP President Padmanabha Kottary, Monappa Bhandari, MLC and others were present.
