Mangalore: The members of a small, scheduled tribal community of 5,000 or more koragas in Karnataka on the coastal region in DK staged a day-long protest on September 8, against irregularities delivery of essential services to them, including delay in the appointment of tribal officers to look after them, and give them good food.
The rally was organised by Karnataka/Kerala Koraga Development Association Koraga district committee, and Samagra Grameena Ashrama jointly, and held in front of DC office in city.
Deputy speaker and city MLS, N.Yogish Bhat, visited the venue and promised speedy action on the koraga demands.
Members complained of not receiving nutritious food under Integrated Tribal Development project for members through Anganwadis in this monsoon. The food is given only for monsoon period but that was missing ,Balraj kodical informed.
Irregularities worth lakhs of rupees were done by various officers like Patalappa, as ITDP officers, and there was none in 6 months in the post
