Mangalore : J Surendranath, founder president of Billava Seva Samaja inaugurated the Koti-Chennayya sports meet 2011, organised by Billava Seva Samaja, Kankanady, and Mangalore at the premises of Shree Brahma Baidarkala Garodi on January 30, Sunday.
Prior to the sports meet, the sports torch was taken from Brahmashree Narayana Guru Mandir, Jeppinamogaru via Bajal, Karmar and Padil and concluded at Garodi Kshetra.
Garodi Billava Samaja president B Laxman Suvarna, presided over the event. A Bhoja Karkera,  J Vishwanath Poojary, B Damodar Nisarga, K Gopal Poojary, J Bhavani Shankar,  J Keshava Angadimaru, B R Lingappa Poojary, K Vaman and others were present.
Whereas Mayor Rajani Dugganna presided over the valedictory ceremony held at 6.30 pm.  Commissioner Dr K N Vijay Prakash, B Devdas Suvarna, K Chittharanjan, Sunder Ullal, Jagadeep Suvarna, Muddu Moodubelle, Umappa Poojary, Vijaya Kumar Sorake, J Narayana Poojary participated as the chief guests.
Later, the National and international level sports personalities were felicitated and prizes were distributed to the winners of various sports events.
