Mangalore: KPCC secretary and lawyer Ivan D’Souza on Friday, accuswed the BJP of finding fault with the Centre for raising basic selling prices of petroleum products like cooking gas and diesel, when he could not reduce the Value Added Tax (VAT) and extra cess imposed on these essential products in his own state as CM.
Ivan was talking to reporters and pointed out that in a Congress ruled states, the burden on poor people was reduced by letting go VAT partly, following PM Singh’s call to CMs.
Yeddyurappa alone refused to help people by reducing his state taxes. The BJP Govt., had raised KSRTC bus fares, followed by private bus owners and auto rickshaws, thus increasing daily burdens of poor/working class families, he lashed out.
