Mangalore: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G Parameshwar said that Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi will reach Nehru Maidan for the Congress Workers’ Convention on October 18, Thursday at 4.30 pm.
He was speaking at the press meet held at District Congress Office on Oct 17, Wednesday. He said that as Sonia Gandhi reach Mangalore Airport, the reception committee will give a formal welcome to the city.
He also said that on the occasion, the students of Bharat Seva Dal will take the oath in the oath taking ceremony. After that 5 identified congress workers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi for 5 minutes each as per the agenda.
He also said that Congress president B Ramanath Rai will deliver the speech and followed by Sonia Gandhi’s speech.
Parameshwar said that he and Siddharamaiah will focus the problem of areca growers and fishermen problem to her knowledge on the occasion. He will also urge her to give classical status to 6 districts as mentioned by Nanjundappa Report as per Article 371.
The convention will be held from 1.30 pm to 6 pm and Sonia Gandhi will move to Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara Temple for inauguration of Centenary Celebration and Dasara.
